   Dussehra (Vijayadashami) marks the victory of good over evil — Rama over Ravana, Durga over Mahishasura. It is the classic day for new beginnings and for setting out on what you've been preparing for.

   Karva Chauth is a daylong fast observed by married women for the health and longevity of their husbands, broken only after sighting the moon on the fourth night of Krishna Paksha in Kartik.
