   Wednesday · Krishna Pratipada

   Holi, the festival of colours, celebrates spring's arrival and the triumph of love and goodness. People fill the streets with gulal, music, and laughter — old grudges dissolve and bonds are renewed in the joy of colour.

   Ugadi / Gudi Padwa

   Thursday · Krishna Amavasya

   Ugadi (in Karnataka and Andhra) and Gudi Padwa (in Maharashtra) mark the Telugu and Marathi New Year — the first day of Chaitra, when the new Samvatsara begins. Homes are adorned with mango-leaf torans, a Gudi (victory pole) is raised, and the day is welcomed with Pachadi — a dish that blends all six tastes as a reminder of life's varied flavours.
