What the two numbers mean
Your life-path number comes from your date of birth and is the most important number in numerology. It describes the broad theme of your life — your natural strengths and the lessons you keep meeting. Because it is fixed at birth, it never changes.
Your name number (also called the expression or destiny number) comes from the letters of your full name. It reflects how you present yourself and the talents you carry. Because names can change, this number can too.
Pythagorean vs Chaldean
The Pythagorean system is the most common in the West: letters map to 1–9 in simple order (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then J=1 again). The Chaldean system is older and rooted in Babylonian tradition; it assigns values 1–8 by the sound and vibration of each letter and treats 9 as sacred, so it is never assigned to a letter directly. How the numbers are calculated
Each letter (or digit of your birth date) is converted to a value, the values are added, and the total is reduced by summing its digits until a single digit remains — unless it is a master number. For the life-path we reduce the day, month, and year separately, then add and reduce those together. It is simple arithmetic, not fortune-telling — treat the readings as reflection prompts, not predictions.
